Someone who has committed his/her career and life to serving his/her country in the military?

Is it really your opinion that such a liability disconnect would occur by simply leaving an agency?

Do you think McMillan will remain connected to LANL after his retirement?

"Do you think McMillan will remain connected to LANL after his retirement?"

If by "connected" you mean later accountable for actions under his watch yes.

Poor Kim, she didn't know coming to LANL will end your career, no one survives the LANL gauntlet, no one. The list of casualties is too numerous to count or keep tract anymore.

"... coming to LANL will end your career,..."

Blathered September 20, 2017 at 8:43 PM, in a fit of self pity.

Only if your career goals are self aggrandizement ! Those whose career goals are serving the Nation through scientific/engineering/administrative excellence have long, illustrious careers at LANL of 40 or 50 years. Just check the anniversary list on the home page every month to find out who they are, and send them a congratulatory email if you are so inclined.

Has Klotz figured this out yet or does he care? He seems to be out of touch until something bad happens, then the press gets involved, and he is then compelled to act to avoid further NNSA embarrassment. Where is the leadership?

Yes. Not so long for me, but I served my 30 years in research and later, administration. I enjoyed and was proud of every minute. I have a clear record of achievement and publications, and several wall plaques to boast of from DOE and NNSA, as well as many former colleagues and coworkers I still enjoy communicating with and seeing once in a while. And I am enjoying my very generous UC pension. My career at LANL was part of a memorable and still-evolving life that I cherish. I shudder to see the once-again craziness accompanying a contract change, but that too shall pass, and all will be right with LANL and its employees.

The NNSA LA office has some real problem people that will cause the next contractor to fail like LANS if they are allowed to operate with impunity. Multiple managers have been unable to stop people intent on destroying the lab.

Let's see, from recent reports, NNSA LA office employs 88 individuals. According to McMillan, the Lab has hired 1000 individuals last year, and another 1000 this year. The Lab headcount exceeds 7000 to 8000, plus contractors, plus the LANS team (UC, Bechtel, etc.).

Yeah, I can see how those 88 NNSA individuals are intent on destroying the lab, 88 individuals who leave in Los Alamos and the local area, where federal jobs in their specialized field are plentiful (sarcasm intended).
